Seven Secrets of Language Learning
Steve Kaufmann, aka lingosteve, has created a series of 7 videos on language learning.
His Seven Secrets of Successful Language Learning are:
1) spend enough time with the language to make progress,
2) choose the activities that you like,
3) notice what is happening in the language,
4) remember that if you know the vocabulary, “the grammar will come”,
5) be patient,
6) get the tools you need for success, and
7) become an independent learner (very important, I think).
Steve claims he can speak “11 languages quite well, and some very well. In order of proficiency these are (other than English) French, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish, Swedish, German, Italian, Cantonese, Russian and Portuguese.”
I don’t know if this possible – although I’ve met people who can speak 4 or 5 languages fluently – but Steve’s videos are certainly interesting. You can also use them as listening exercises.
